Uses of Ferro-molybdenum Powder
Metallurgy and Alloy Production
The addition of ferro-molybdenum powder improves the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of these alloys, making them ideal for applications in aerospace, construction and more.
Industrial Lubricants
Due to its low coefficient of friction and excellent high-temperature stability, ferro-molybdenum powder is used in manufacturing industrial lubricants and greases.

Electronics and Semiconductors
The semiconductor industry relies on ferro-molybdenum powder for the production of thin films and electronic components. It is widely used in creating gate contacts, interconnects, and metallization layers in integrated circuits.
Chemical Applications
Ferro-molybdenum powder finds applications in various chemical processes, such as catalysts for petrochemical refining and desulfurization. Its catalytic properties are crucial in promoting chemical reactions with high efficiency.
Production Methods of Ferro-molybdenum Powder
Ferro molybdenum powder can be produced using various techniques which yield powder particles of different sizes and properties. The common production methods include:
Electrolytic Process
Ferro molybdenum powder is electrolytically deposited onto a cathode plate immersed in a molybdate solution bath. The deposited flaky powder is scraped off and annealed into a spherical powder.
Hydrogen Reduction
Ammonium molybdate is reduced by hydrogen gas at high temperatures to produce a powder called molybdenum oxide. Further annealing in hydrogen atmosphere yields pure ferro molybdenum powder.
Plasma Atomization
Molybdenum electrode is melted by plasma arc and disintegrated by jets of nitrogen or argon gas into fine spherical powder.
Mechanical Attrition
Ferro molybdenum powder is ground in a ball mill with grinding media into finer sizes through fracturing and cold welding.
Industries must adhere to regulations for the safe disposal and recycling of molybdenum-containing waste.
Proper handling and storage procedures should be followed to prevent accidents and exposure to harmful particles.
Proper ventilation and personal protective equipment (PPE) are crucial for employee well-being.
Avoid exposing it to sparks, open flames, or high temperatures.
Be prepared with first aid protocols for accidental exposure, such as rinsing eyes thoroughly with water or seeking medical attention for inhalation issues.
